"Abatuuze" is a word from Uganda's Luganda language that loosely translates to "inhabitants of the land."
This album draws inspiration from the lived experiences of Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora, exploring their impact on individuals and diverse communities. The artworks respond dynamically to the songs' frequencies, creating audio-reactive visuals. The project features Ugandan spoken word artists and a Kora player from The Gambia.

I collaborated with Migisha Boyd a long timer collaborator and creative partner. He is a game programmer, artist and computer scientist to create a virtual reality experience for this element of the project. He also created the motion graphics and wrote the poems which i in turned narrated. I have attached a link with a snippet video walkthrough and an open source application you can download if you have Meta Quest 2 & later generation VR headsets to try it out.

The visuals for these instrumentals were made with generative AI. I used my artworks from the original project as reference with Skybox to create hybrid versions of this work. The instrumental music and sounds serve a different purpose and is open to interpretation without the lyrical and poetic elements, which prompted me to release the album independently.
